A Study on Anxiety of the Nurses who are Employed at General and Mental Hospitals in Korea


Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine anxiety of the 636 nurses who are working at the 12 general and 3 mental hospitals in Seoul, Inchon, Taejun, Suwon and Chun ju in Korea.
This study was performed by anxiety test described by Sung Tae Kim, during the period of Sep. 20-Nov. 30, 1975.
In working with the study, the status of the nurses listed below are considered: Anxiety score and their relation, to size of community, working department, age, position, working experience, marital status, religion, basic nursing educational background, and residence.
The result obtained in this study was analyzed by Calculating and observing the mean, standard deviation, t-test,and F-test.
The findings from this study are as follow:
1) Anxiety score of total subjects is distributed from 1 to 42, showing mean of 15.42, and standard deviation of 6.33.
2) There are no significant relationships, by statistical test between anxiety score and size of community, working department, age, working experience, marital
status, religion, basic nursing educational background and residence(p>0.05).
3) There is a significant relationship by statistical test between anxiety score
and position. The lower the position is, the more anxiety score becomes(p<
0.05).
